‘Friends’ Remains Top Svod Title In UK As Nearly Half Of British Homes Take A Streaming Service

  • Deadline
Friends remains the most watched Svod title in the UK as it emerged that half of British homes now take a streaming service.

The classic sitcom topped the list for the first quarter of 2019, according to research from GfK, ahead of Amazon’s The Grand Tour, Greg Berlanti’s thriller You and NBC comedies The Good Place and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

The Warner Media show, which airs on Netflix in the UK, and is expected to remain on the digital platform despite its parent company’s moves in the U.S. helped Netflix beat Amazon to the majority of titles in the top 20.

Fifteen of the top 20, also including The Big Bang Theory, Luther, Marvel’s The Punisher, Breaking Bad, Peaky Blinders, Grace and Frankie, Sex Education, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, The Last Kingdom, Orange Is The New Black and Umbrella Academy, have their Svod window exclusively on Netflix.

Here's All of the Crazy Sh*t You Can Expect to Go Down in Season 4 of Riverdale

  • Popsugar
After Riverdale left us with that major cliffhanger (and even more unanswered questions) in the season three finale, we're more anxious than ever for the fourth season to premiere. The final episode of the season acted as a culmination of the show's first three seasons, bringing the stories of Jason Blossom, the Black Hood, and the Gargoyle King together at last. Though we imagine the story of The Farm will continue, we can only guess what the next mystery will be (and what in the heck will lead to that crazy flash-forward we saw in the last episode). There have been plenty of guesses about what lays ahead, but here's everything we know for certain so far.

27 TV Characters We Consider Master Manipulators

Some characters just have a way of manipulating the situation. Sometimes it's in a big way, and other times, it's an intimate chess game between the characters as they pull together the pieces and threads that serve their interest.

While you might not think manipulation is a good thing, it is often essential to a plot of good television. It complicates situations, and when structured correctly can keep audiences interested over a season or seasons.

Characters who do the manipulating can work on both sides of the good vs. evil divide and can often straddle it completely. Whatever their motivations are, the one thing they have in common is that they can play the long game, and often have fun doing it.

Here are 27 characters we'd consider masters of manipulation.

Writer-director Elle Callahan’s next film will be Witch Hunt, a supernatural thriller about an America where fugitive witches try to evade callous authorities. Production will get underway this summer in Los Angeles. Paradigm and UTA Independent Film Group are handling sales for the film.

Callahan’s follow-up effort to Head Count (which was released June 14 through Samuel Goldwyn) will star Gideon Adlon (Blockers), Abigail Cowen (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost), and Christian Camargo (The Hurt Locker).

The premise: “In a modern America where witches are real and witchcraft is illegal, Witch Hunt follows Claire (Adlon), who must face her own demons and prejudices as she helps two young witches elude authorities to seek asylum in Mexico.”

Witch Hunt has a title that evokes the era of McCarthyism but its themes speak to turbulent contemporary American topics with a story that straddles the southern border shared with Mexico.

Is Netflix Cancelling Shows Before People Have a Reasonable Amount of Time to Watch Them?

When Netflix cancelled Chambers earlier this month, was your first reaction, “Already?” Or, “What is Chambers?” And when it was announced that Santa Clarita Diet‘s latest season would be its last, was your initial response, “Wait, Season 3 came out?!”

In other words: Is Netflix giving its audience enough time to A) become aware of, B) find, and then C) binge-watch its original fare — and in expedient enough a manner to be counted by the streaming giant’s renew/cancel metrics?

As told to Vulture about a year ago, Netflix renew/cancel decisions are largely based on the amount of

Everything You Need to Know About the Main Character in Riverdale Spinoff Katy Keene

Back in January, The CW greenlit a pilot for yet another Riverdale spinoff series (the first being Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix), this time based on Archie Comics character Katy Keene. The pilot was officially picked up to series this past May and will premiere as part of The CW's 2019-2020 lineup, with Riverdale star Ashleigh Murray reprising her role as Josie as she heads to the Big Apple.

However, Katy herself hasn't yet appeared on the flagship series, so you may be wondering just who the title character is and why she warrants her own show. Portrayed by Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale, The CW's Katy will work as a personal shopper at a luxury department store in New York City, with dreams of someday becoming a fashion designer. Described as being "bold, big-hearted and independent," Katy will spend the series juggling friendship, romance, and her professional
