Nickelodeon’s ‘Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Gets Annecy First Look

Co-executive producers Andy Suriano and Ant Ward were in Annecy for their first time this year to give an in-depth, behind the scenes look at their forthcoming series, “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”

Held at the Salle Pierre Lamy, the two showed artwork, explained the development process which led to the series, and even screened a two-minute clip from the show, which will be launched by Nickelodeon this fall.

All of the work on the series is being handled by Nickelodeon in Los Angeles, apart from animation which is being done at Australia’s Flying Bark. “They are killing it!” said Ward.

As one might except from the title, Nickelodeon’s “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” won’t be picking up where previous iterations of the IP have dropped off, but rather a fresh retelling of the stories behind Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello and Leonardo, with other Tmnt staples to feature.

New ‘Skyscraper’ Trailer Further Reveals Story & Action

Universal Pictures has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming Dwayne Johnson action film, ‘Skyscraper‘. Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, the film stars Johnson as a former FBI man who now assesses the security of high tech skyscrapers. Of course, things go wrong, and the rock has to flex his muscles to fix the situation. All joking aside, ‘Skyscraper’ is in essence a combination of the plot of ‘The Towering Inferno‘ mixed with the tone and characters of ‘Die Hard‘.

It’s a fun premise, but I’m not sure if these trailers so far completely nail the tone for me. The film seems to be a little too self-aware for my taste, not only in it’s similarities between the aforementioned films, but also the overall cheeky nature of the phone. With that said, I would like to highlight that the all-too underutilized Neve Campbell looks to have

Cannes 2018: The 11 Best Movies of This Year’s Festival

  • Indiewire
The 2018 Cannes Film Festival has ended, but the movies are very much still with us. This year’s festival started with a Netflix controversy and hosted major activism around women in the film industry. But despite the many conversations swirling around the festival environment, Cannes was still a film festival. So how were those movies, anyway?

Early on, this year’s program was assailed for lacking star power and many A-list auteurs, but in retrospect, not of that skepticism really gelled with a selection that ranged from newcomers to veterans, and from stars to fresh faces — and it all cast an exciting spotlight on movies from around the world. Here are the best of the bunch.

“Arctic”

This may be a low bar to clear, but Joe Penna’s directorial feature debut is one of the best movies ever made about a man stranded in the wilderness. Mads Mikkelsen, throwing

“Don’t call it a comeback!” Spike Lee said of his triumphant return to the Croisette with the angry and hugely entertaining “BlacKkKlansman,” which is in the running for the 2018 Palme d’Or. It still smarts that Wim Wenders’ jury denied him the prize in 1989 for “Do the Right Thing,” but this week Lee is in high spirits. “I love Cannes!” Lee said on the Majestic Beach. “Cannes can be brutal if you don’t get the right reception: ‘Shit, why did I come?’ That’s why Thierry [Fremaux] changed the rules,” Lee said, referring to the new practice of the press screenings taking place simultaneously with official premieres.

“I didn’t know they changed the rule until I got here,” he said. “I’m glad they changed it. Before, when they had the press conference before the screening, it could be brutal, with directors coming to world premieres, and the word’s out already!
