Bill Murray Says He Would Be in Upcoming Ghostbusters Movie If Asked

While at the Cannes Film Festival that began this week, Eric Kohn over at IndieWire was able to sit down with the legendary Bill Murray and chat about the Ghostbusters franchise. Murray had some really lovely things to say about his original costars and his experience in making the first two films. Here’s what he had to say:

“This franchise paid for my son’s college. We made this thing. We are the caretakers of it. It’s a great thing and it was a really fun movie to make. It’s a real movie with some really funny stuff in it.”

He went on to talk about his co-stars, saying:

“They’re wonderful people. Danny [Ackroyd], Ernie [Hudson], Harold [Ramis], Rick Moranis, Annie Potts — they’re some of the coolest people and they had real careers. They treat people well. They really understand what it is to be a movie actor.

Bill Murray Teases He’s Open to Return for Ghostbusters 3

Joseph Baxter May 15, 2019

With Ghostbusters 3 now moving forward, the famously-reluctant Bill Murray is hinting an appearance.

Bill Murray may carry an almost-mythical aura, especially when it comes to the Oscar-nominated film star’s off-camera adventures, but one subset of his reputation centers on his now-famous reluctance to appear in the long-mooted Ghostbusters threequel. It’s a narrative that, for decades, has bombarded the news cycle, with Murray’s cryptic comments and blatant trolling. However, his latest comments reveal a possible change of heart about once again putting on his proton pack.

Appearing at the Cannes Film Festival to promote his latest film, director Jim Jarmusch’s comedic-horror film, The Dead Don’t Die, Murray fielded the inevitable Ghostbusters 3 question, posed by IndieWire, with a surprisingly positive answer. Murray, referencing his surprise cameo in director Paul Feig’s 2015 female-fronted Ghostbusters reboot, reveals an evolved attitude about his formerly-distanced franchise fame. As

We should all strive to be more like Bill Murray. And through it all, he has stayed completely honest, even brutally so. So, when he talks about the current state of “Ghostbusters” and his potential future in the series, you better believe Murray isn’t going to hold back.

Bill Murray Open to Appearing in Jason Reitman’s New ‘Ghostbusters’ Sequel

Bill Murray Open to Appearing in Jason Reitman’s New ‘Ghostbusters’ Sequel
For a long time, Bill Murray didn’t really want anything to do with Ghostbusters 3. However, director Paul Feig was fortunate enough to secure his involvement (along with most of the rest of the original cast) for a cameo in Ghostbusters: Answer the Call. And it sounds like if Jason Reitman wants Bill Murray to […]

Bill Murray Says He’s Down To Return For Ghostbusters 3

Maybe the question should change from “who you gonna call” to “are you gonna call him?”

Because it seemed like we’d never see Bill Murray in his ghost-busting suit again, his surprise cameo (though in a business suit) during Paul Feig’s 2016 remake was quite a delight. With Ghostbusters 3 on its way though, is it possible we’ll see the comic icon again?

Director Jason Reitman has called his upcoming film a “love letter” to the originals, with actor Ernie Hudson already confirmed to return. And in a recent interview with IndieWire, it looks like Murray’s also up to the idea:

“I did [the remake] and I would do this next one.”

WarnerMedia Orders Second Season of Snowpiercer Series, First Season to Premiere on TBS in 2020

Back in 2016, TNT ordered a pilot episode based on Bong Joon Ho’s Snowpiercer (itself based on Jacques Lobabout's Le Transperceneige), and in early 2018, the network green-lit the series. While the news front for the show has been relatively quiet since then, it's now been announced that the Snowpiercer series will premiere on TBS in spring of 2020, with WarnerMedia already ordering a second season of the series about a constantly moving train holding humanity's last survivors in a frozen apocalypse.

Press Release: May 15, 2019 – WarnerMedia has ordered a second season of its post-apocalyptic sci-fi series Snowpiercer prior to its series premiere. Based on the acclaimed film of the same name, the highly anticipated futuristic thriller will debut next year on TBS. Known for its culture-defining comedies, TBS will be adding dramas to its programming lineup starting with Snowpiercer, starring Oscar® winner Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind) and Tony Award® winner Daveed Diggs,

Bill Murray Says He’s Ready to Do Another ‘Ghostbusters’: ‘It Paid For My Son’s College’

Bill Murray Says He’s Ready to Do Another ‘Ghostbusters’: ‘It Paid For My Son’s College’
Bill Murray moved beyond the legacy of “Ghostbusters” long ago, but it still follows him around. At the Cannes Film Festival, the elusive deadpan legend showed up to support Jim Jarmusch’s “The Dead Don’t Die,” a zombie movie laced with social satire in which he plays one of the leads. In a few weeks, he’ll start production on Sofia Coppola’s New York-set “On the Rocks,” his first feature-length collaboration with the director since “Lost in Translation.” Since his Oscar-nominated turn in that beloved 2003 effort marked a turning point in his career, Murray’s profile has been more closely associated with edgier projects than the supernatural ‘80s franchise that Sony continues to reboot.

Murray famously declined to participate in another “Ghostbusters” movie for years, and his deal with the studio prevented the project from going forward without his consent, until he relinquished with a cameo in the all-female 2016 reboot.

TBS renews Snowpiercer for a second season

It’s still a year out from its series premiere, but TBS and WarnerMedia have renewed the upcoming small screen adaptation of the post-apocalyptic sci-fi Snowpiercer.

Based on the acclaimed movie of the same name, Snowpiercer is set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland and centers on the remnants of humanity, who inhabit a gigantic, perpetually-moving train that circles the globe, where class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival play out.

Jennifer Connelly (A Beautiful Mind) and Daveed Diggs (Blindspotting) lead a cast that also includes Alison Wright (The Americans), Mickey Sumner (Frances Ha), Susan Park (Ghostbusters), Iddo Goldberg (Peaky Blinders), Katie McGuinness (Dirty Filthy Love), Lena Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), Annalise Basso (Bedtime Stories), Sam Otto (Jellyfish), Roberto Urbina (Narcos), Sheila Vand (Argo), Jaylin Fletcher (Saturday Church) and Rowan Blanchard (Girl Meets World).

One of Midsommar director Ari Aster's favorite films may hint at how the film ends.

"Hereditary was the story of a cult destroying one unsuspecting family, but director Ari Aster’s followup horror movie, Midsommar, may be the story of one woman who destroys a cult. Previous interviews with Aster, specifically related to one his self-professed favorite films, Lars Von Trier’s Dogville, may offer a hint at what we can expect from the upcoming A24 movie."

Cannes: Jim Jarmusch Confronts the End of the World Amid Faint Praise for His ‘The Dead Don’t Die’

Cannes: Jim Jarmusch Confronts the End of the World Amid Faint Praise for His ‘The Dead Don’t Die’
It’s rare for a Cannes opener to be a Competition prize-winner. Opening nights at the Grand Auditorium Louis Lumière are designed for maximum red carpet impact and a global marketing launch. Cannes veteran Jim Jarmusch knows the drill.

Even with dark end-of-the-world overtones, a laidback horror comedy does not a Competition contender make. Jarmusch’s “The Dead Don’t Die” delivers some mild chuckles, and is saved by its cast of Jarmusch regulars, especially Bill Murray (“Broken Flowers”) and Adam Driver (“Paterson”) as two deadpan country cops, Tilda Swinton as a Scottish Samurai warrior, and Tom Waits as philosophical Hermit Bob. But it does not advance the zombie genre. Still, Focus Features will surely get an awareness boost from Cannes for this light-hearted entertainment with darker themes on its mind.

While Jarmusch admits that he grew up on Universal horror, Dario Argento and John Carpenter (both of whom he

Selena Gomez Says Social Media Is ‘Terrible’ For Younger Generations

Selena Gomez Says Social Media Is ‘Terrible’ For Younger Generations
Selena Gomez’s latest starring role might be set within the terrifying (and often funny) confines of a world overrun by zombies, but the actress and singer used some of her time promoting Jim Jarmusch’s “The Dead Don’t Die” at Cannes to talk about a different kind of monster: social media. In the Cannes opening night film, even the zombies tote cell phones, and when asked about the influence of social media in the current culture at the film’s Wednesday morning press conference, Gomez got honest.

“I think our world is going through a lot,” Gomez said. “I would say for my generation, specifically, social media has really been terrible. It does scare me when you see how exposed these young boys and young girls are. They are not aware of the news. I think it’s dangerous for sure. I don’t think people are getting the right information sometimes.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game Rumored for a Remaster

Rob Leane May 14, 2019

2009's Ghostbusters game could be getting an Xbox One port, according to a new rumor.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game, which initially launched in 2009, could be getting a remaster for the current crop of consoles. If it's been a while since you slimed any ghouls, that might sound like a very tempting proposition.

The source for this story is an unusual one: as Eurogamer has reported, the Taiwanese ratings board may well have let the cat out of the bag. They've posted an official online listing suggesting that Mad Dog Games is working on a project called Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered, with a plan to release it on Xbox One.

There's a couple of interesting things here, beyond the base level of intrigue about this game getting a resurgence. For one thing, the Taiwanese ratings board only mentions an Xbox One version, which makes us wonder
