The festival is far from the only major North American showcase for non-fiction cinema. Festivals ranging from Hot Docs to True/False have played key roles in the expanding documentary festival circuit. However, Doc Fortnight has maintained its own niche on the scene, by aiming to expose undiscovered stories and filmmakers, screening a range of documentaries from around the world and capturing the ways in which artists are pushing the boundaries of non-fiction filmmaking.

“It’s not an industry festival, there aren’t awards, and distributors aren’t all coming looking to buy,

‘Empire’ Dream Cast: 12 Actors We Want to Reunite with Lee Daniels on Season 2

‘Empire’ Dream Cast: 12 Actors We Want to Reunite with Lee Daniels on Season 2
When it comes to appearing on Empire, there seems to be one common thread: Lee Daniels. The director, who helped creator Fox’s hit new series with writer/actor Danny Strong, comes from a critically acclaimed film background. Both Terrence Howard (Lucious Lyon) and Gabourey Sidibe (Becky Williams) earned Oscar recognition thanks to Daniels work behind the camera.

Daniels has worked with an impressive pool of actors, which includes everyone from Dame Helen Mirren to SeanP. Diddy” Combs. While we’d never expect to see Mirren on the show -- though it would be delightful if she made a voice cameo like she did on Glee -- we do love the idea of Combs getting back into acting, Nicole Kidman returning to her camp days, or even Zac Efron revisiting the musical world that first made him a star.

Meme: Bill Donahue Doesn’t Think the Pope Was Talking About Him, Kerr Smith Is a Silver Fox, Lance Bass Lies for Closeted Celebrities

“You Oughta Know” is about Dave Coulier, Jack Klugman’s sons think their father is more important than Cory Monteith, Matthew Dave Lewis drenched and giggling

Maggie Gallagher thinks the Pope and his new ideas are exhilarating, and perhaps gay rights activists should practice what he preaches. “What I find most exhilarating about Pope Francis, is the possibility that we can reach out to those with whom we disagree without surrendering principle. I will say I have not found that true generally. I have found the gay rights community — the activists anyway, not the ordinary folk — is mostly asking for one thing: Agree, or be judged a hateful bigot. But when you are in the fray of battle, it is easy to become fragile and to lose sight of possibilities. Maybe the pope can do things I cannot imagine. Imagine that!” But not her. No.
