Forrest Taft is an environmental agent who works for the Aegis Oil Company in Alaska. Aegis Oil's corrupt CEO, Michael Jennings, is the kind of person who doesn't care whether or not oil spills into the ocean or onto the land, just as long as it's making money for him. He even makes commercials that make him look like he cares about the environment. Jennings is almost finished with building his new state-of-the art oil rig: AEGIS-1. The problem is that if he doesn't finish building the rig in thirteen days, the land rights will be returned to the Eskimos and the Alaskan government. When Jennings finds out that Taft's best friend Hugh Palmer has a computer disk that contains information about defective equipment on AEGIS-1, he sends out his goons to murder Palmer. When Taft tries to interfere, Jennings tries to kill Taft. But an Eskimo woman named Masu, who introduces Taft to her father Silook, the chief of her tribe, rescues Taft. With Masu's help, Taft begins a trek through the ...Written by
On Deadly Ground was not Steven Seagal's first choice to make his directorial debut. He was initially offered the mafia drama "Man of Honor" as a starring/director/writer vehicle by Twentieth Century Fox and Morgan Creek Productions, but cost overruns, and Fox's unwillingness to plonk down thirty plus million dollars for the film, forced the pic to shutdown, just a few weeks away from filming. The first half of the end credits run over images of Alaska and its various wildlife, until we see Forrest Taft & Masu in a canoe, with Taft pointing out to Masu, a crow in front of them circling over the water (supposedly meant to be Silook in another form) See more »

I've never been a fan of horror films and let me start by saying that it's even less fun to be in one. The plot went like this, I boarded a bus for a three hour trip and the masochistic bus driver decides to put this piece of absolute toxic trash on the television. Let me tell you, on a bus there is nowhere to go, nowhere you can run to or hide. I was forced to watch this complete turkey or break a window and dive off of the bus . . . let me tell you, that was a tough decision.
The plot (what of it there is) has been summarised by others (some who actually seem to like this film). What I'd like to know is A) why are we supposed to believe that this is at all credible? I could believe in James Bond films before I could swallow this load of tripe! B) How did they talk Michael Caine into this? I mean, this film is even worse than Jaws IV (something I hadn't thought possible). C) Is surgery required to remove Seagal's sneer? D) Wouldn't blowing up the oil rig create more of an environmental catastrophe? No, this film is one of the worst. Why MrCranky.com hasn't hit on it is anyone's guess but for my money it's right up there with The Avengers, Alien Resurrection, Battlefield Earth and Buckaroo Bonzia. One of the very worst films I've ever seen.
