New ‘Matrix’ Movie In Works, Keanu Reeves & Carrie-Anne Moss Returning, Co-Creator Lana Wachowski Writing & Directing
A new Matrix movie is happening at Warner Bros. with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity and Lana Wachowski set to write and direct an all-new film set in the genre-defining world.

Warner Bros. will co-produce with the franchise’s original co-producer Village Roadshow.

Warner Bros. Pictures Group Chairman Toby Emmerich made the announcement today. Lana Wachowski is producing with Grant Hill. Wachowski is co-writing with Aleksander Hemon and David Mitchell.

“We could not be more excited to be re-entering The Matrix with Lana,” said Emmerich. “Lana is a true visionary—a singular and original creative filmmaker—and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in The Matrix universe.”

The three previous films, created with Lilly Wachowski writing and directing—The Matrix (1999), The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (2003)—have earned more than $1.6 billion at the global box

‘The Righteous Gemstones’ TV Premiere Is HBO’s Most-Watched Comedy Debut in More Than 3 Years
Hallelujah, HBO execs: The series premiere of Danny McBride’s “The Righteous Gemstones” on Sunday was the pay TV channel’s most-watched linear debut of a comedy series in more than three years.

The hour-long “Righteous Gemstones” premiere brought in 844,000 viewers across HBO’s platforms yesterday, including streaming services HBO Go and HBO Now.

The 10 p.m. airing alone averaged 593,000 viewers, making it the HBO comedy to launch with the highest linear-viewership tally since the 2016 premiere of “Vice Principals,” which also starred McBride and put up 1.2 million viewers.

Disney Delays ‘Cruella,’ ‘Woman in the Window’

Disney is shaking up its release calendar, delaying its live action “Cruella” until Memorial Day 2021 and pushing the Fox 2000 drama “The Woman in the Window” to 2020.

Cruella,” starring Emma Stone, is based on the classic “101 Dalmatians” villain Cruella de Vil. The revisit to Disney’s animated classic was originally set to hit theaters Dec. 23, 2020 but will now debut on May 28, 2021.

Amy Adams’ “The Woman in the Window,” which was originally scheduled for Oct. 4 of this year, has been moved to May 15, 2020. Disney acquired the movie after inheriting 20th Century Fox’s film studio. Joe Wright directed from a screenplay adapted by Tracy Letts, based on the A.J. Finn novel about a psychologist witnessing a crime while spying on her new neighbors.

Disney also removed an untitled live-action film, once dated for May 28, 2021, from its schedule. Two Fox titles, “Empty Man” and “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” were dated for Aug.

Jessica Chastain Spy Thriller ‘355’ Set for January 2021 Release
Universal Pictures announced on Tuesday that it will release “355,” the espionage thriller starring Jessica Chastain and Lupita Nyong’o, on Jan. 15, 2021.

Penelope Cruz, Diane Kruger, Fan Bingbing, Sebastian Stan and Edgar Ramirez will also star in the film, which is being directed and co-written by longtime “X-Men” producer Simon Kinberg. The film follows several women from different espionage backgrounds who come together to stop a global terrorist plot.

“355” was first pitched to potential buyers at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, triggering a bidding war for distribution rights that was won by Universal with a reported bid of over $20 million. Global Road and Amazon Studios were also among the bidders.

Filming on the project began last month in Europe. Kinberg is producing with Chastain and Kelly Carmichael and sharing writing credit with Theresa Rebeck.

The creative team set to bring Kaley Cuoco’s dark comedy series “The Flight Attendant” to HBO Max has taken shape.

The series, which tells the terrifying story of a flight attendant (Cuoco) who wakes up in the wrong hotel, in the wrong bed, with a dead man and no idea what happened, has tapped Susanna Fogel to direct and executive produce the first two episodes.

Fogel has been highly active on the feature front recently, directing 2018’s “The Spy Who Dumped Me” and earning a co-writing credit on Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut “Booksmart.”

Previously announced executive producer Steve Yockey, who co-executive produced on “Supernatural,” has been named as showrunner for the Yes, Norman Productions, Berlanti Productions and Warner Horizon Scripted Television series. “Nashville” executive producers Meredith Lavender and Marcie Ulin have been tapped to serve as executive producers and co-showrunners on “The Flight Attendant,” working alongside Yockey, who

Succession” has scored an early Season 3 renewal at HBO.

The news comes as the critically-acclaimed drama series is just two episodes into its second season. Season 1 of the series was recently nominated for five Emmy Awards, including for best drama series.

‘Dancing With the Stars’ Reveals Season 28 Cast: Lamar Odom, Sean Spicer, ‘Bachelorette’ Hannah Brown
The cast for Season 28 of “Dancing With the Stars” was announced Wednesday on “Good Morning America,” with supermodel Christie Brinkley and “Queer Eye” star Karamo Brown set to put their moves to the test.

Competing against them will be “Dawson’s Creek” star James Van Der Beek, “The Office” alum Kate Flannery, two-time NBA Champion Lamar Odom, former Trump White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, and “BacheloretteHannah Brown, among others.

On the pro side, the fall run will feature the return of fan-favorite Peta Murgatroyd, and the debut of two new professional ballroom dancers.

Nickelodeon Lands New ‘Lego Jurassic World’ Animated Miniseries — Watch First Teaser (Video)

A new Lego Jurassic World animated miniseries has landed at Nickelodeon.

The network has set a Sept. 14 premiere date for “Lego Jurassic World: Legend of Isla Nublar,” along with a teaser video that features “Jurassic World” characters Claire and Owen bantering back and forth as they give a tour of the dinosaur-inhabited park to a skeptical theme-park reviewer. You can watch the clip above.

The 13-episode CG-animated miniseries takes place in 2012, three years before the events of the 2015 “Jurassic World” movie.

U.K. broadcaster Channel 5 has unveiled a slate of original dramas, marking the latest step in the Viacom-owned broadcaster’s push into scripted content.

The new dramas include a two-hour ghost story from Awesome Media & Entertainment and Two Rivers Media called “The Small Hand” adapted from novel by “The Woman in Black” author Susan Hill; psychological thriller “Penance” from West Road Pictures; four-part thriller “The Deceived” from New Pictures; and the return of thriller “Blood” for a new six part series.

Neto Villalobos’ ‘Love is the Monster’ Heads to San Sebastian Co-Pro Forum (Exclusive)

Costa Rican director Ernesto “Neto” Villalobos’ third feature, “Love is the Monster,” will participate in September’s San Sebastian Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum.

Having found festival success with his first two features, “All About the Feathers” and “Helmet Heads,” both drama-comedies, Villalobos will head in a different direction with “Love is the Monster,” a psychological thriller co-written with author Diego van der Laat, a Costa Rican storyteller working in cinema the first time.

Villalobos explained that while working on this project, “I was interested in exploring the personal relationships between Grandmother, Mother and Granddaughter in a Latin American environment where violence is daily bread and where we live with a latent paranoia about insecurity and evil.”

To that end, the film explores how far a grandmother is willing to go in order to rescue her granddaughter from imminent danger. Villalobos describes it as “The story of a grandmother who must deal,

Pinewood Group to Exit Atlanta Studios Joint Venture

The Pinewood Group is pulling out of its Atlanta facility as it refocuses its international strategy. The group announced Wednesday that it has sold its equity in Pinewood Atlanta Studios to River’s Rock, its joint venture partner in the facility. The joint venture was set up in 2013 with Pinewood Atlanta Studios now the second largest purpose-built facility in the U.S.

The studio will continue to operate as a Pinewood facility for up to 18 months, during which time it will retain the Pinewood brand and receive sales and marketing support from the group. Frank Patterson, who joined Pinewood Atlanta Studios as president two years ago, will remain in his role, and the studio said the announcement would have no impact on productions using the facility.

The decision to sell its stake follows Patterson’s move into investment in content companies. Pinewood Group’s focus remains on studio infrastructure.
