Galt MacDermot, ‘Hair’ Composer and Hip-Hop Inspiration, Dead at 89
Galt MacDermot, who composed the hit Broadway musicals Hair and Two Gentlemen of Verona, died Monday, a day before his 90th birthday. His death was confirmed to Playbill by his granddaughter, though a cause of death was not revealed.

After cutting records in the early part of the Sixties, including the Grammy-winning “African Waltz” for saxophonist Cannonball Adderley, the Montreal-born composer moved to New York. Upon meeting lyricists Gerome Ragni and James Rado, he began setting their writings to music and the trio eventually created Hair, which opened off-Broadway in

Outlander: The Tragic Reason Behind Frank's Unexpected Season 4 Cameo
Warning: Spoilers for Outlander season four below!

The latest Outlander episode, titled "Down the Rabbit Hole," sees the return of a couple of familiar faces in Tobias Menzies's Frank and Nell Hudson's Laoghaire, which may have come as a bit of a surprise - even to book readers, in Frank's case. But executive producer Maril Davis tells Popsugar that doing a Frank episode was on their minds from very early on in plotting out season four, even though he doesn't really appear in Diana Gabaldon's Drums of Autumn.

In the episode, the main thrust of the action is that Brianna (Sophie Skelton) travels through the stones to 1760s Scotland. But this is juxtaposed with flashbacks to her final months with her father, Frank (Menzies), which the writers' room thought was an important thing to include in Brianna's journey.

"We decided fairly early on that part of the

The Sweet, Simple Reason Julie Andrews Isn't in Mary Poppins Returns

  • Popsugar
It's one of the most anticipated movies of the holiday season: Mary Poppins Returns, the sequel to the beloved 1964 Disney classic. Starring Emily Blunt as the practically perfect nanny, the movie centers on the grown-up Banks children, as well as Michael Banks's three young children. There are plenty of nostalgic moments in the movie, from the charming soundtrack that would make the Sherman brothers proud to the showstopping cameo by original star Dick Van Dyke. But what about the original Mary Poppins, Dame Julie Andrews herself? Blunt has taken on the role, since Mary Poppins doesn't age and human actors do, but could Andrews appear, as Van Dyke does, in a smaller role?

Andrews does not make even a cameo appearance in the new movie, and there's a very sweet reason. Director Rob Marshall told Variety that he immediately approached her about the possibility, but she turned it down to

Expect to See These Netflix Shows Dominate Award Season

Expect to See These Netflix Shows Dominate Award Season
With the recent Golden Globe nominations, award season has officially kicked off. And while you may immediately think of movies when you hear "award season," TV is just as involved. TV series are celebrated at the Golden Globe Awards, the Critics' Choice Film + TV Awards, the British Academy of Film and Television Awards (aka the BAFTAs), and various Guild-specific shows.

There are so many platforms to watch TV shows on that it can be hard to keep up with all the different critically acclaimed shows. After all, there's no shortage of amazing, creative shows to watch, but not all of them are accessible on all platforms. Serious contenders like The Handmaid's Tale, Westworld, and This Is Us, for instance, are not available on Netflix; in fact, most shows that belong to premium cable channels such as Starz and HBO don't make deals with streaming platforms at all since they often

Forever 21 Slammed for Using a White Model to Sell a Black Panther-Inspired Sweater
Forever 21 is under fire for using a white model to sell a Black Panther-inspired sweater.

However, when fans of the movie went to shop the look, they were surprised to find the model was not a person of color, whom the film celebrates.

“@Forever21 really got the palest person they could find to model a Wakanda Forever sweater.

We last saw this skit when Fallon hosted SNL back in 2011. This time, however, the crew had a little help from someone special: Ariana Grande.
