Richard E. Grant calls for 'best casting' award to be created by Bafta and Oscar
He was talking at the first Casting Directors Awards held in London on Tuesday,

Oscar nominee Richard E. Grant has called on Bafta and the Oscars to introduce best casting categories, saying casting work has been “astonishingly un-celebrated” by the film industry.

“I’ve wondered whether it’s because it’s female-dominated that it hasn’t been as to the forefront of other awards,” Grant told Screen at the inaugural Casting Directors Guild (Cdg) awards in London last night (February 12).

“There should be a category for them [at the Baftas and Oscars]. Casting director comes up in the list of credits so

Blu-ray Review – Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)

Bohemian Rhapsody, 2018.

Directed by Bryan Singer.

Starring Rami Malek, Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy, Joseph Mazzello, Lucy Boynton, Aidan Gillen. Tom Hollander, Allen Leech, Aaron McCusker, Dermot Murphy, Meneka Das, Ace Bhatti, Dickie Beau, Neil Fox-Roberts, Philip Andrew, Matthew Houston, Michelle Duncan, Max Bennett, Adam Rauf, Scott Morrison Watson, and Mike Myers.

Synopsis:

Bohemian Rhapsody arrives on home video in a package that includes the movie on Blu-ray and DVD, along with a code for a digital copy and a smattering of bonus features. The film is probably a must-watch for hardcore Queen fans, but anyone wanting a complex portrayal of lead singer Freddie Mercury will be disappointed, since the story is more of a greatest hits of key moments from the band’s history.

My first exposure to Queen was listening to their album News of the World in the basement of an older kid in my neighborhood who was really into music.

BAFTA suspends Bryan Singer’s Bohemian Rhapsody nomination due to sexual misconduct allegations

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced that it has suspended Bryan Singer’s nomination at the upcoming British Academy Film Awards due to the recent allegations of sexual misconduct made against the filmmaker.

Singer had been nominated alongside Bohemian Rhapsody producers Graham King and Anthony McCarten in the category of Outstanding British Film. King and McCarten remain nominated, while Bohemian Rhapsody will also contest a further six BAFTA Awards.

“BAFTA considers the alleged behaviour completely unacceptable and incompatible with its values,” reads a statement from the organisation. “This has led to Mr Singer’s suspended nomination. BAFTA notes Mr Singer’s denial of the allegations. The suspension of his nomination will therefore remain in place until the outcome of the allegations has been resolved.”

‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Overcame High Drama in the Editing Room to Vie for the Best Picture Oscar
Bryan Singer’s go-to editor/composer, John Ottman, when he was left on his own without a director when Singer was fired by Fox, helped transform “Bohemian Rhapsody” into the surprise hit of the awards season.

And, after winning the Ace Eddie prize, Ottman now becomes the Best Editing Oscar frontrunner. Of course, it helped having a tour de force performance by Rami Malek as the iconic Freddie Mercury, who’s the favorite to win Best Actor.

“We banded together with all of the high drama to make it work,” said Ottman, who was assisted in the editing room by producer Graham King and partner Denis O’Sullivan. “Even when I’m working with Bryan he likes to leave me alone to do my thing,” he added. “He’ll usually go away on a vacation for a number of weeks as I’m shaping the film and come back and
