Top 3 reasons the Golden Globes may strike a ‘Pose’ for Best Drama Series

Are we underestimating FX’s “Pose” at the Golden Globes? The series explores the lives of transgender characters in the ball culture in late-1980s New York, and as of this writing it ranks fifth in the race for Best TV Drama Series with odds of 7/1, according to the combined predictions of hundreds of Gold Derby users who have entered their picks in our predictions center. So it’s a likely nominee, but not necessarily a likely winner. Here are the top three reasons I think it’s a bigger threat than our odds are giving it credit for.

1. The Globes love brand new shows

Our current Best Drama Series front-runner “Killing Eve” is certainly the kind of new series the Globes like, but it debuted back in the spring so the Emmys got there first, nominating it for its

Sean Hayes (‘Will and Grace’) on Jack’s engagement, and why he’d love for Meryl Streep to join the cast [Exclusive Video Interview]
“The writing, in my opinion, is the best it’s ever been,” proclaims “Will and Grace” star Sean Hayes. “It makes me laugh out loud.” The NBC sitcom starring Hayes, Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, and Megan Mullally originally ran from 1998-2006. It returned in 2017 and was soon renewed for two additional seasons. Gold Derby recently spoke with Hayes on-set at Universal Studios before the show premiered on October 4. Hayes teased what’s to come this season, including Jack’s engagement to Estefan (Brian Jordan Alvarez), which is “going to go great or horrible,” he says. Either would be “great storytelling.” He also revealed two dream guest stars he’d love to have on the show one day: Oscar queen Meryl Streep “because it would just be really

2018 BFI London Film Festival Review – Duplicate

Duplicate, 2018.

Directed by Bill Oliver.

Starring Ansel Elgort, Patricia Clarkson, Suki Waterhouse, Matt Bomer and Douglas Hodge.

Synopsis:

Jonathan leaves the office everyday at noon. When he gets home, he goes to sleep. Every morning he wakes up and there is a breakfast prepared for him along with a video telling him about the second part of his day.

Duplicate (originally titled Jonathan in the U.S.) is a disappointing film. What sounds like an interesting and timely concept in our age of technological innovation – that we could create duplicate consciousnesses of ourselves, within ourselves, in order to explore more than one way of living – feels under-explored.

The film is slow-moving which, while perfectly acceptable at the film’s beginning when John and Jonathan’s (Ansel Elgort) personas and routines are being introduced, as well as their shared way of life, starts to feel boring and shallow quite quickly. The

Lff: ‘Duplicate’ Review: Dir. Bill Oliver (2018)

Duplicate review: Ansel Elgort gives a wonderful double-performance as two brothers trapped inside the same body in a film that is part-science fiction and part-psychological drama.

Duplicate review

Elgort is Jonathan – in fact this film’s original Us title – a clean-cut career person and inhabitant of his twenty-something body for 12 hours of the day – 7am to 7pm – while his slightly off-balance, very different sibling, John, gets his turn from 7pm until 7am. Their interactions with one another are recorded on video-tape with each of them relaying messages to one another with occurrences from the previous day before they go to sleep. It’s an interesting concept – perhaps one which isn’t quite pushed as far as could have been in Bill Oliver’s otherwise impressive debut as a feature filmmaker.

An interaction between Jonathan and Suki Waterhouse’s Elena, kick off a series of events with potentially life-changing consequences, ones

Ansel Elgort in Full Trailer for Two Minds in One Body Film 'Jonathan'

"Two Minds. One Body. No Way Out." Well Go USA has released an official trailer for an indie drama titled Jonathan, a "sci-fi-tinged" story about two people stuck inside of one body. Ansel Elgort stars in this as two brothers living separate lives. Jonathan leaves the office everyday at noon. When he gets home, he goes to sleep. Every morning he wakes up and there is a breakfast prepared for him along with a video telling him about the second part of his day. It all gets disrupted when they both fall for the same woman. Jonathan also stars Suki Waterhouse, Patricia Clarkson, Matt Bomer, and Douglas Hodge. This looks quite cool, it seems complicated to balance both of these characters and still craft a coherent story. This looks like a clever film and I'm curious to check it out, despite not hearing much (good or bad) about it. Watch below.

Will & Grace: Season 10 Ratings

As the 10th season kicks off on NBC, fans don't have to worry whether the Will & Grace TV show will be cancelled or renewed for season 11. The Peacock network already picked up the 11th installment back in March of 2018. It's no surprise. Last year, the series revival was their second-highest rated scripted series in the demo, bested only by the Nielsen unicorn that is This Is Us. Can the fearsome foursome match or even beat the expectations they set in their first season back on the airwaves, or has the novelty worn off? Will Will & Grace be cancelled or renewed beyond season 11? Stay tuned.

Eric McCormack Shrugs Off Reboot Fatigue, Especially When It Comes to Will & Grace

  • Popsugar

When it comes to the Will & Grace reboot, which is heading into its second season, you might be tempted to scream, "Ugh, not another reboot!" But I'm here to tell you this isn't any ordinary revamp. That's because, even though the show ended more than 10 years ago, not much has changed. With many of the same writers, the same stars (obviously), and even the same director, it's almost as if Will & Grace was never off the air.

In September, I was lucky enough to hop onto the iconic set of the iconic series, where Eric McCormack, our beloved Will, echoed the same sentiment in an interview. Will & Grace seems to be the exception to the rule. Moreover, what's wrong with a little nostalgia here and there, especially when it's good quality? And that's not all McCormack had to say about the series; we dove

“This show, for me, always felt like putting on a really comfortable sweater,” explains “Will and Grace” star Eric McCormack. “I’m more comfortable on this set than I am in most of the rooms in my house.” The NBC sitcom starring McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes, and Megan Mullally originally ran from 1998-2006. Then it returned in 2017 after 11 years for what was supposed to be a 10-episode run. But that morphed into a 16-episode season, and then a second- and third-season renewal. DC Universe has big plans for Titans, the first original series set to debut on the DC-only streaming service. The first season of the groundbreaking R-rated superhero show kicks off later this month but Warner Bros. is already moving ahead with season 2. And it seems that they have plans for more beyond that.

While speaking with ComicBook.com at New York Comic-Con, executive producer Akiva Goldsman (Aka the man we have to thank for Batman & Robin‘s script) explained that he and the producing team mapped out a rough plan for the first three seasons of Titans, with certain set-ups being planted in season 1 for future runs.

“In early days we kind of grossly discussed the first three season just in very large blocks and obviously with serialized television what’s great these days is you can do set ups and pay offs at least within the season and

Matt Bomer cast as Negative Man in DC’s Doom Patrol

The Doom Patrol series has finally rounded up all of its main members. Brendan Fraser, who is playing Robotman in the series, announced at the Titans premiere at the New York Comic-Con last night Matt Bomer (The Nice Guys) is set to play Negative Man. He will provide the character’s voice and play his pre-superhero self of Larry Trainor in flashbacks.

A test pilot who was accidentally fused with radioactive energy, Larry Trainor has the ability to release a ‘negative man’ from his body. This negative copy has the ability to fly, phase through objects and even explode, but the powers come with a cost. If Larry and the Negative Man are separated for too long, Larry will die. Because of this and his radioactive powers, he is forced to adopt an appearance resembling the Invisible Man as bandages have to cover his face all the time or else
